Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Intake System Tightening Specs:

1. Relieve fuel system pressure by starting engine with fuel pump relay (circuit open relay) disconnected and let run until engine dies, then slowly and carefully remove hose on outlet side of fuel filter. Cover with a clean rag while removing hose, to avoid spraying fuel in your face.

2. Unbolt intake air pipe and throttle body assembly from intake manifold dynamic chamber.

3. Unbolt intake manifold extension pipes from dynamic chamber and remove dynamic chamber and extension pipes.

4. Disconnect fuel and vacuum hoses from fuel rail (fuel delivery pipe).

5. Disconnect injector electrical connectors.

6. Remove fuel rail with injectors attached.

7. Remove injectors from fuel rail.

8. Install in the reverse order as removal. tighten bolts to the correct torque as shown in illustration.

9. When installation is complete, energize fuel pump (jumper fuel pump test connector and turn ignition "ON") and make sure there are no leaks.
