DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a no start, rough idle and/or lack of power after a 60,000 mile timing belt replacement interval. These symptoms can be caused by a worn tensioner pulley bushing. As the bushing wears, the pulley becomes misaligned allowing the timing belt to jump or tear. For an effective repair, the tensioner pulley (with bushing), spacer, and timing belt must be replaced as a set.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer concern.
2. Replace timing belt, tensioner pulley and spacer per the Workshop Manual (01-10 TIMING BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION)
3. Verify repair.
