Idle/Altitude Compensator (Non Comp. Controlled): Testing and Inspection

AIR VALVE

Removing BAC Valve:

1. Remove BAC valve screws and separate valve from throttle body.

Checking Bypass Air Control Valve:

2. Blow air through valve from port "A" and check that air comes out of port "B" when BAC valve is cold.
3. Place BAC valve into hot water (more than 80°C [176°F]) for one minute.
4. Blow air through valve from port "A" and check that no air comes out of port "B".
5. If not as described, replace valve.

Installing BAC Valve:

When re-installing valve on throttle body, use new O-ring and gasket.

SOLENOID VALVE (ISC)

Checking Idle Speed Control (ISC) Valve Resistance:

1. Disconnect solenoid valve (ISC) connector.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to solenoid valve terminals.
3. Check resistance. It should be 7.7 - 9.3 Ohms (at 23°C [73°F]).
4. If not as specified, replace valve.

ISC solenoid valve output signal can be checked at ECU terminal 2W. With ignition switch "ON" (engine not running), terminal voltage should be approximately 11V. At idle, voltage should be approximately 10V.
