Headliner: Service and Repair

HEADLINER







Removal and Installation

All vehicles
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the passenger front seat.
3. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels.
4. Remove the LH and RH B-pillar trim panels.
5. Remove the 8 sun visor screws, 2 clips, and the 2 sun visors.
- Disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.

6. Remove the 6 screws and 3 assist handles.
- Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors

7. Remove the high mounted stoplamp cover.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

8. Remove the rear seat backrest.
9. Position the RH and LH rear quarter trim panels aside.
10. Disconnect the 2 ground wires behind the rear quarter trim panels.

11. CAUTION: The overhead console bracket is supported by the headliner. Failure to follow the removal procedure will damage the headliner.

Support the headliner at the rear corner of the overhead console and pull down on that corner of the overhead console.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

Vehicles equipped without roof opening panel

12. NOTE:
- Pull down the sides of the headliner above the door openings to expose the adhesive beads.
- The headliner main wiring harness is part of the headliner.

Using a hot knife or wide-blade putty knife, cut adhesive beads lengthwise across the headliner.

13. Disconnect the headliner main wiring harness electrical connectors, located along the RH and LH sides of the headliner.
14. Clean any remaining adhesive from the roof sheet metal.

All vehicles
15. Remove the headliner through the passenger door opening.

16. NOTE: A new headliner will need to be installed if it is folded during removal or installation.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Apply adhesive to the headliner using the existing pattern.
