Brake Booster
1. Remove the 2 nuts and position the vapor management valve (VMV) and bracket assembly aside.
^ To install, tighten to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
2. Remove the 2 nuts and the 2 windshield wiper pivot arms.
^ To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Disconnect the windshield washer hose.
4. Remove the cowl panel grille.
1 Remove the cowl panel grille pin type retainers.
2 Remove the cowl panel grille rubber trim.
3 Remove the cowl Panel Grille.
5. Remove the 7 bolts and the strut tower support brace.
^ To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
6. Disconnect the degas bottle return hose.
7. Remove the 2 degas bottle bolts and position the degas bottle aside.
^ To install, tighten to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
8. Remove the brake master cylinder.
9. If equipped, disconnect the brake pedal travel switch and the brake pedal force switch electrical connectors.
10. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the vacuum check valve.
11. Remove and discard the 4 brake booster to brake pedal bracket nuts.
^ To install, tighten to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
12. Disconnect the brake pedal pin from the brake booster input shaft.
1 Remove the redundant self locking clip.
2 Disconnect the booster rod from the brake pedal.
13. Remove the brake booster from the vehicle.
14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
