Column Shift Cable and Bracket
Removal1. From under the instrument panel, remove the shift cable from the steering column.
2. Remove the cable plastic terminal from the shift control selector lever pivot ball by prying with a screwdriver between the cable plastic terminal ant the lever.
3. Remove the shift cable from the retaining bracket by carefully lifting on the locking tab while pulling up on the shift actuator cable fitting.
4. From the engine compartment, pry the cable grommet from the dash panel.
5. Remove the nut holding the cable to the manual control lever.
6. Remove the shift cable from the transmission shift cable bracket on the transaxle by carefully lifting on the locking tab while pulling up on the shift actuator cable fitting.
7. From the engine compartment, pull the cable through the dash panel opening.
Installation
1. From the engine compartment, feed the plastic terminal end of the cable through the opening in the dash panel.
2. Press the rubber boot on the shift cable into the dash panel.
3. From the engine compartment, install the shift cable into the transmission shift cable bracket on the transaxle and make sure the locking tab is in proper location.
4. Place the shift cable and the bracket on the manual control lever and install nut.
5. From the passenger compartment, install the cable-to-steering column shift cable bracket and make sure the locking tab is in proper location.
6. Snap the cable plastic terminal to the shift control selector lever pivot ball on the steering column.
