Shift Interlock Solenoid: Service and Repair
Removal1. Remove the center console.
2. Remove the ignition/shifter interlock cable from the bracket and the shifter interlock cam.
3. Remove the LH lower instrument panel trim.
4. Remove the nuts and lower the steering column.
5. Disconnect the shift interlock electrical connector
6. Remove the screws.
7. Remove the ignition/shifter interlock cable from the bracket.
8. Remove the ignition/shifter interlock cable.
Installation
1. Position the ignition/shifter interlock cable.
2. Connect the ignition/shifter interlock cable to the shifter interlock cam and the bracket.
3. Install the ignition/shifter interlock cable into the bracket.
4. Install the ignition/shifter cable bracket.
5. Connect the electrical connector.
6. Position the steering column and install the retaining nuts.
7. Install the LH lower instrument panel trim.
8. Check for proper interlock operation. The ignition key should be removable only with the transaxle range selector lever in PARK. The transaxle range selector lever should be locked in the PARK position with the key removed.
