Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

2. Remove the anti-vibration clip.







3. Disconnect the evaporative canister tube and the EVAP canister purge outlet tube from the evaporative emission tubes.







4. Remove the bolts, nuts and evaporative emissions canister with bracket assembly from the vehicle.







5. Disconnect the canister vent solenoid.
^ Disconnect the connector.
^ Disconnect the hose.







6. Remove the canister vent solenoid.







7. Remove the canister vent solenoid elbow.







8. Remove the evaporative emission tube.

NOTE:
^ Inspect and replace the O-ring as necessary.
^ A twisting and pulling motion is required to remove the evaporative emission tube.







9. Remove the evaporative emissions canisters from the evaporative emission canister bracket.

INSTALLATION

NOTE:
^ The evaporative emissions canister assembly must be leak-tested prior to installation on vehicle.
^ Lubricate the O-ring seals with MERPOL(R) O-ring seal lubricant meeting Ford specification ESE-M99B144-B or equivalent.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.







2. Carry out a leak test. EVAP System Leak Test
3. Carry out the Evaporative Emission Running Loss Monitor Repair Verification Drive Cycle.
