Tire Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove the tire from the wheel.
2. Remove the mounting strap, counterweight and low tire pressure sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. NOTE: Low tire pressure sensors are color coded.
NOTE: Rotation does not affect operation of the pressure alert system.
If a new tire low pressure sensor is being installed, make sure the new sensor is the same color as the old one.
2. Assemble the low tire pressure sensor and counterweight on the mounting strap.
3. CAUTION: Position the low tire pressure sensor on the flat portion of the drop well to prevent damage during tire installation and removal.
Position the low tire pressure sensor, the counterweight and the mounting strap in the drop well of the wheel. Finger-tighten the worm screw.
4. Position the notch in the counterweight at the valve stem. Position the tire low pressure sensor 180 degrees from the valve stem as far as possible toward the center of the drop well and on the flat surface.
5. CAUTION: Over-tightening of the worm screw (above 8 Nm [71 inch lbs.]) can deform the worm screw and cause premature failure.
Tighten mounting strap worm screw to specification.
6. Mount the tire on the wheel.
