Installation
Special Tools:
1. Install a Spreader Bar.
2. Support the engine with a Spreader Bar and a suitable floor crane.
3. Remove the engine from the work stand.
4. Install the flywheel.
5. Position the engine to the transaxle.
6. Install the RH engine support insulator bracket.
7. Install the bolts.
8. Install the bolts.
9. Install the two bolts.
10. Install the bolts.
^ Use Threadlock 262 EQFZ-19554-B meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A6.
11. Connect the RH engine support insulator.
^ Use Threadlock 262 EQFZ-19554-B meeting Ford specification WSK-M2G351-A6.
12. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the internal transmission wiring harness connector.
13. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the digital Transmission Range (TR) sensor.
14. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the turbine shaft speed sensor.
15. Connect the power steering return hose to the steering gear.
16. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the EVO sensor.
17. Position the engine, transaxle and sub-frame as an assembly on the Powertrain Lift.
18. Remove the engine lifting equipment.
19. Raise and position the engine, transaxle and sub-frame assembly in the engine compartment.
20. Install the four bolts.
21. Install the front sub-frame brackets.
22. Remove the Powertrain Lift and Universal Powertrain Removal Bracket.
23. Install the four nuts.
24. Install the torque converter shield.
25. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the starter motor.
26. Connect the water bypass hose.
27. Connect the lower radiator hose.
28. Connect the A/C compressor lines.
29. Connect the power steering cooler line.
30. Install the dual converter Y pipe.
31. Install the lower radiator air deflector.
32. Partially lower the vehicle.
33. Install the RH and LH half shafts into the front wheel knuckle.
34. Install the RH and LH front axle wheel hub retainers.
35. Install the RH and LH tie rod ends to the front wheel knuckles.
36. Connect the RH and LH front suspension lower arms to the front wheel knuckles.
37. Install the RH and LH front stabilizer bar link.
38. Connect the RH and LH height sensor links.
39. Install the front wheel and tire assemblies.
40. Lower the vehicle.
41. Connect the generator wiring harness.
42. Connect the power steering return hose.
43. Connect the upper radiator hose.
44. Connect the heater water hose to the RH cylinder head.
45. Connect the heater water hose to the water bypass tube.
46. Install the oil level dipstick.
47. Connect the transaxle cooler tubes.
^ Connect the transaxle cooler outlet tube.
^ Connect the fluid cooler inlet tube.
48. Connect the evaporative emissions return line.
49. Position the main engine compartment wiring harness in the bracket. Install the bolt.
50. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the three main engine compartment wiring harnesses.
51. Connect the manual control cable to the Transmission Range (TR) sensor.
52. Connect the accelerator cable and the speed control actuator cable to the accelerator cable bracket.
53. Install the accelerator cable snow shield.
54. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the Throttle Position (TP) sensor.
55. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
56. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the main engine wiring harness.
57. Install the engine control sensor wiring to the valve cover stud, install and tighten the nut.
58. Connect the engine control sensor wiring to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
59. Connect the PCM ground straps.
60. Connect the chassis vacuum supply hose.
61. Connect the fuel line.
62. Install the engine roll restrictor.
63. Install the air cleaner outlet tube.
64. Connect the steering column to the steering gear.
^ Position the steering column coupler on the steering gear.
^ Install the pinch bolt.
65. Install the LH dash close out panel.
^ Connect the courtesy lamp.
^ Position the dash close out panel.
^ Install the three pushpins.
66. Connect the battery ground cable.
67. Fill the engine with clean Motorcraft Super Premium SAE 5W-30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G.
68. Fill and bleed the cooling system.
69. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
70. Charge the A/C system.
71. Start and run the engine. Inspect for leaks.
