Parking Brake Control: Service and Repair

Removal
1. Fully release the parking brake.
2. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.





3. Loosen the parking brake adjuster by releasing the clip that holds the adjuster rod in place.
4. Lower the vehicle.





5. Disconnect the parking brake release handle from the parking brake control release arm.
6. Disconnect the wiring connector from the parking brake signal switch and bracket.





7. Remove the cable end from the clevis at the parking brake control.





8. Remove the conduit retainer from the parking brake control using a 13 mm box-end wrench to depress the retaining prongs.





9. Remove two bolts and one nut retaining the parking brake control to the cowl side panel.





10. Disconnect the parking brake release vacuum hose from the parking brake release control motor.
11. Remove the parking brake control from the vehicle.

Installation





1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order. Adjust the cable tension.
