Seat Latch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING: BE SURE TO READ AND FOLLOW ALL AIR BAG WARNINGS CONTAINED IN SEAT-FRONT SEAT BACKREST AND FRAME WITH SIDE AIR BAG DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES.

NOTE: The power seat backrest adjuster assembly must be installed as a unit. Repair of the power seat backrest adjuster assembly components is not acceptable and should not be attempted.

1. Remove the seat.







2. Remove the front seat cushion side shield.







3. Remove the screws.







4. Disconnect the connector.







5. Remove the seat backrest cover panel.
1. Push upon the seat backrest trim panel.
2. Pull out on the bottom corners of the seat backrest trim panel to disengage the J-hooks.
3. Slide the seat backrest trim pane] down to remove.
4. Inspect the seatback trim panel J-hooks for damage. Install new components as necessary.

CAUTION: When removing the seat backrest trim panel, be careful not to damage the J-hooks.

NOTE: Front seat backrest trim covers installed on seats with side air bags cannot be repaired. The front seat backrest trim covers are to be installed new. Cleaning is permissible.







6. Remove the J retainers.







7. Pull up the cover and remove the bolts.







8. Remove the bolts.

INSTALLATION












1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. Check the restraint System for proper operation.
3. Prove out the air bag System.
