Child Seat Tether Attachment: Service and Repair

WARNING:
- WHEN USING ANY INFANT OR CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM, IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER CONCERNING ITS INSTALLATION AND USE. FAILURE TO FOLLOW EACH OF THE RESTRAINT MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS CAN RESULT IN A CHILD STRIKING THE VEHICLE'S INTERIOR DURING A SUDDEN STOP OR COLLISION.
- IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE BOLT/ANCHOR BE SECURELY TIGHTENED TO SPECIFICATION. OTHERWISE, THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT MAY NOT BE PROPERLY SECURED, AND THE CHILD COULD BE INJURED IN CASE OF A SUDDEN STOP OR COLLISION.


Installation
The child safety belt anchor tether kit can be obtained at no charge from any Ford or Lincoln/Mercury dealer. To install, follow instructions provided with the child safety belt anchor tether kit.





Tether Attachment Location
Dimension A is the distance from the centerline of the vehicle to the center of the tether attachment holes.

Dimension B is the approximate distance from the center of the radio speaker grille opening to the center of the tether attachment holes.





Rear Window Tray
From inside the luggage compartment looking underneath the metal panel structure behind the rear seat, locate one of the three existing 9 mm diameter (0.35 inch) holes identified by the letter T. Each outboard hole is located approximately 404 mm (15.9 inches) outboard from the centerline of the vehicle and along a line 221 mm (8.7 inches) rearward from the center of the rear seat radio speaker. The outboard holes are located above the oval clearance holes in the sheet metal. The center passenger tether hole is located 137 mm (5.4 inches) outboard toward the passenger side of vehicle from the centerline of the vehicle and 99 mm (3.9 inches) rearward from the center line of the rear seat radio speaker.
