Steering Wheel: Service and Repair

1. Center front wheels to straight ahead position.
2. Disconnect battery ground, then positive cable.
3. Wait one minute for backup power to deplete.





4. Remove four air bag module retaining nuts, then lift module off steering wheel.
5. Disconnect air bag wire harness from module, then remove module.
6. Disconnect speed control wire harness from steering wheel.
7. Remove steering wheel retaining bolt.
8. Using steering wheel puller T67L-3600-A, or equivalent, remove steering wheel.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure air bag wire is not pinched.
b. Install new steering wheel bolt and torque to 23-33 ft lb.
c. Torque air bag module retaining nuts to 3-4 ft lb.
