Removal and Installation

1. Remove steering column boot attachments, then the intermediate shaft retaining bolts and shaft.
2. Remove secondary steering column boot from inside of passenger compartment.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Remove tie rod ends from spindle, then gear to subframe attaching bolts.
5. Remove both height sensor attachments, then both rear subframe to body attaching bolts.
6. Remove exhaust pipe to catalytic converter.
7. Carefully lower subframe assembly approximately four inches.
8. Remove heat shield band and fold down shield.
9. Rotate gear to clear bolts from subframe and pull left to allow room for line fitting removal.
10. Remove line fittings, then drain using a suitable pan.
11. Remove lefthand sway bar link, then gear assembly through lefthand wheel housing.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
