Floor Air Distribution Ducts to Rear Compartment

The floor air distribution system (illustration) includes an adapter assembly which attaches to the evaporator case assembly. A rear seat heater outlet duct which runs rearward from the adapter to the LH heater duct outlet and straddles the raised area in the floorpan. Both ducts attach to the No. 1 crossmember.

REMOVAL
1. Remove front seats.
2. Pull floor carpet rearward far enough to clear retaining parts for two ducts.
3. Remove two nuts which attach rear duct to studs provided in No. 1 crossmember.
4. Remove two screws which retain duct between adapter and rear duct to No. 1 crossmember.
5. Slide ducts rearward to free them from adapter and from each other.

INSTALLATION
1. Assemble ducts to each other and position rear duct over its mounting studs.
2. Install stud nuts.
3. Align forward end of outlet duct with adapter. Attach duct with two screws.
4. Install carpet.
5. Install front seats.
