I. Poor FM Reception

1. Fuel Pump Motor

Perform the following to verify the concern.

1. Fuel Pump Motor FM Interference:

^ Engine not running.

^ Tune in a weak FM radio station. It is best to listen for "whining/buzzing" noise during quiet passages of classical music or listen for static or noise when the fuel pump is running.

2. JBL Amplifier FM Interference:

^ Engine not running.

^ Tune in a weak FM radio station. It is best to listen for interference during quiet passages of classical music.

^ Listen for static or noise.

^ Plug in a High Level Amplifier (Base Part No. 18T805 or 18T806).

^ The level of static or noise should be reduced.

SERVICE ACTION:

Perform the following to service the noise concern.

1. Install Fuel Pump RFI filter (F1PZ-18B925-A) as described in TSB 92-6.

2. Replace the JBL amplifier with a repaired JBL amplifier available from the local Ford Audio Systems Authorized Distributor.
