LINCOLN-MERCURY: 1991 TOWN CAR


ISSUE: A rough idle condition may be experienced on some vehicles. This condition may be caused by a cracked "T" connector which is part of the crankcase connector and hose assembly.

ACTION: Inspect the crankcase "T" connector and replace it if it is found to be defective. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

Figure 1:

1. Determine if engine idle is rough or unsatisfactory.

2. Prior to routine diagnostics, visually inspect the crankcase "T" connector located on the rear of the intake manifold. If the connector is cracked, disconnect the "T" connector, Figure 1.

3. Obtain a new service "T" connector (F1AZ-6B899-A). Reattach the adjoining tubes and install connector on rear of the intake manifold.


4. Start the engine and check for vacuum leaks.

5. Obtain and install a Ford Authorized Modification Decal, denoting the part change.





Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
