Transfer Case Installation





Special Tool(s)

Installation

1. Install a new transfer case-to-transmission gasket onto the transfer case.
2. Position the transfer case and install the 7 transfer case-to-transmission bolts.
^ Tighten to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
3. Position the transmission insulator and install the 2 transmission insulator-to-transfer case bolts.
^ Tighten to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the 2 crossmember-to-transmission nuts.
^ Tighten to 98 Nm (72 ft. lbs.).





5. Remove the jack from under the transmission.





6. Remove the transmission jack from the transfer case.
7. Connect the vent hose to the transfer case.
8. Connect the transfer case wire harness electrical connector.





9. Position the skid plate and install the 4 bolts, if equipped.
^ Tighten to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the front driveshaft.
11. Install the rear driveshaft.
12. Fill the transfer case.
