INCORRECT COMPASS HEADINGS
LINCOLN:
2004 Navigator
2004-2005 Aviator
ISSUE
Some 2004 Navigator and 2004-2005 Aviator vehicles may exhibit one (1) of the following two (2) conditions with the compass display:
^ Rapid alternation between two adjacent headings
^ Display does not indicate "N", "S", "F", or "W", but only indicates the off headings of "NE', "SE", "SW" and "NW"
ACTION
Contact the cluster service center and order a replacement cluster (usually sent overnight). When the new cluster arrives, install per Workshop Manual Section 413. Recalibrate the compass and check for the correct zone setting. New instrument cluster software prevents network messages that may cause the compass to operate improperly.
