COMPRESSOR MANIFOLD AND TUBE ASSEMBLY







Removal and Installation

CAUTION: Refrigerant Compressor Oil (mineral oil) F73Z-19577-AA (Motorcraft YN-9-A) should be used to lubricate R-134a refrigerant system O-ring seals only and should not be added to the R-134a refrigerant system as an A/C compressor lubricant. PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil F7AZ-19D589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B only should be used as an A/C compressor lubricant.

NOTE: Installation of a new receiver/drier is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the receiver/drier.

1. Recover the refrigerant.
2. Remove the upper radiator sight shield.
3. Remove the air cleaner.
4. Remove the compressor manifold bolt.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).

5. Remove the A/C fitting line nuts.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
- To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

6. Disconnect the A/C line fitting.
- Discard the O-ring seals.

7. Remove the 2 line brackets.
8. Disconnect the refrigerant containment switch electrical connector.
9. Remove the compressor manifold and tube assembly.
10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals, lubricated in clean mineral oil.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil.

11. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system.
