Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the transmission.
3. Remove the hood.
4. Discharge and recover the A/C system.
5. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
6. Remove the engine cooling fan.
7. Remove the cooling module.
8. Release the fuel system pressure.
9. Drain the engine oil.
^ Install the drain plug when finished.
^ Tighten to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
10. Disconnect the accelerator cable, the speed control cable and the throttle return spring.
11. Release the speed control cable from the pin-type retainer.
12. Remove the 2 bolts and position the bracket and cables aside.
13. Disconnect the 2 coolant hoses and position aside.
14. Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses and position aside.
15. Release the coolant hose from the retaining clips on the RH valve cover and position aside.
16. Disconnect the coolant hose from the intake manifold.
17. Disconnect the engine wiring harness and the electrical connector from the powertrain control module (PCM).
18. Release the engine wiring harness from the three retaining clips and position aside.
19. Disconnect the wiring harness and remove the wiring harness retaining clip.
20. Remove the ground strap bolt.
21. Disconnect the electrical connector and the vacuum hose from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module.
22. Disconnect the EGR system module nut from he EGR system module.
23. Remove the two bolts and the EGR system module.
24. Disconnect the vacuum harness from the retainer.
25. Disconnect the brake booster hose from the intake manifold.
26. Disconnect the fuel tube.
27. Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the vapor management (VMV) valve-to-intake manifold.
28. Open the power distribution supply box cover.
29. Disconnect the power distribution supply electrical connector.
30. Disconnect the positive and negative battery cables from the battery.
31. Release the battery cable harness pin-type retainers and position the harness aside.
32. Disconnect the power steering reservoir hose from the power steering cooler.
33. Disconnect the power steering pressure (PSP) switch electrical connector.
34. Disconnect the power steering pressure tube from the power steering pump.
35. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose bracket from the front cover.
36. Disconnect the support bracket and position aside.
37. Remove the bolt and position the A/C compressor manifold assembly aside.
38. Remove the LH engine mount through-bolt.
39. Remove the 2 nuts from the RH engine mount (through the wheel well).
40. NOTE: Engine removal requires the use of 2 lifting eyes 303-DO87.
NOTE: RH shown; LH similar.
Install the engine lifting eyes.
41. Install the special tools and remove the engine.
