Steps 56 - 111
56. Install the coolant pump pulley.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
57. Install the A/C compressor and the 4 bolts.
^ Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
58. Install the power steering pump and the 3 bolts.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).
59. Install the oil filter adapter.
^ Position the gasket and the oil filter adapter.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
60. NOTE: LH shown; RH similar.
Install the LH and RH engine mounts.
^ Tighten to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).
61. NOTE: Install a new 0-ring and lubricate with clean engine oil.
Install the oil level indicator tube.
^ Install the oil level indicator tube in the engine block.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
62. NOTE: LH shown; RH similar.
Install the exhaust manifolds.
1 Install new exhaust manifold gaskets.
2 Install the exhaust manifolds.
3 Install the 16 nuts.
^ Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
63. Install the knock sensors (KS).
^ Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
64. Install the coolant bypass tube.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
65. NOTE: Upper intake shown removed for clarity.
Install the upper and lower intake.
^ Tighten all fasteners in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
66. Install the upper-to-lower intake bracket and the nuts.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
67. Install the coolant hose retainers on the RH valve cover.
68. NOTE: RH shown; LH similar.
Install the engine lifting eyes.
69. Install the 8 ignition coils.
70. Install the crossover tube.
1 Install the crossover tube and the nuts.
2 Connect the coolant hose.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
71. Install the generator and the bolts.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
72. Install the generator support bracket and the bolts.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
73. Install the accessory drive belt.
74. Install the coolant bypass-to-thermostat housing hose.
75. Install the upper radiator hose.
76. Position the engine wiring harness on the engine.
77. Connect the A/C compressor and the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connectors.
78. Connect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
79. Connect the 2 harness retainers to the RH valve cover studs.
80. Connect the throttle position (TP) sensor and the idle air control (IAC) sensor electrical connectors.
81. Connect the RH radio interference capacitor electrical connector and the pin-type retainer.
82. Install the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube.
83. Connect the PCV electrical connector.
84. Connect the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor electrical connector and the 2 pin-type retainers.
85. Connect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system module tube to the exhaust manifold.
^ Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
86. Connect the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) electrical connector.
87. Connect the wiring harness retainer to the stud on the cylinder head.
88. Connect the KS electrical connector and the pin-type retainer.
89. Connect the pin-type retainers to the back of he engine in the locations shown.
90. Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
91. Connect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector and the 2 retainers to the valve cover.
92. Install the fuel charging wiring harness retainers to the fuel injection supply manifold.
93. Connect the 8 fuel injector electrical connectors.
94. Connect the radio interference capacitor electrical connector.
95. Connect the 8 ignition coils electrical connectors.
96. NOTE: RH shown; LH similar.
Install the RH and LH coil covers.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
97. Position the vacuum harness and connect it to he intake manifold.
98. Connect the electrical connector and the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure sensor.
99. Install the battery cable harness and the bolt to he RH engine mount.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
100. Connect the 2 retainers to the A/C compressor.
101. Connect the 2 retainers to the engine front cover studs.
102. Connect the electrical connector and the battery cable to the alternator.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
103. Connect the battery cable harness ground.
^ Tighten to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
104. Position the power steering reservoir and install the 2 bolts and the pin-type retainer.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
105. Install the remaining bolt and the hose to the power steering reservoir.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
106. Remove the engine from the stand.
107. NOTE: If not secured within 4 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface cleaner. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can result in future oil leakage.
Apply a 4 mm (0.16 inch) bead of silicone gasket and sealant around the rear oil seal retainer plate sealing surface. Also apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant at the junction where the cylinder block, oil pan and rear oil seal retainer plate meet.
108. Install the rear oil seal retainer plate. Tighten he 8 bolts in 4 stages in the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten 1-6 to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
^ Stage 2: Hand-t1ghten 7 and 8.
^ Stage 3: Tighten 7 and 8 to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
^ Stage 4: Tighten 7 and 8 an additional 60 degrees.
109. Using the special tools, install the crankshaft rear main seal.
110. Using the special tool, install the crankshaft oil Slinger.
111. Install the spacer plate and the flexplate.
^ Tighten to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.).
