Shifter A/T: Service and Repair
Transmission Selector Lever
1. If installing a new transmission range selector bezel or the transmission range selector lever, remove the center console.
2. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.
Item 1: Shroud Removal Note
1. Pull down on the knob shroud and boot. Remove the knob Tocating screw.
Item 3: Horseshoe Clip Removal Note
1. Carefully remove the horseshoe clip from the rear of the knob.
Item 4: Shift Knob Bezel Removal Note
1. Slide the knob bezel up and remove the shift knob.
Item 6: Shift Knob Spring Removal Note
1. The spring may dislodge from the shift rod pocket. Locate and retain the spring for installation.
Item 6: Shift Knob Spring Installation Note
1. Make sure the shift knob spring is securely seated in the shift rod pocket.
Item 5: Shift Knob Installation Note
1. Carefully position the shift knob on the shift rod while pulling the release button outboard.
Item 4: Shift Knob Bezel Installation Note
1. Install the shift knob bezel into the bottom of the shift knob until the retainer snaps in place.
Item 3: Horseshoe Clip Installation Note
1. Insert the horseshoe clip in the shift knob.
Item 1: Shroud Installation Note
1. Pull up on the knob shroud and boot until the retainers are seated.
