Headliner: Service and Repair

HEADLINER

REMOVAL

NOTE: Headliner without roof opening panel is shown. Headliner with opening panel is similar.

1. Remove the overhead console.

2. NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the lower safety belt anchor bolts to position aside the upper B-, C- and D-pillar trim panels.

Remove the A-pillar trim panel and position aside the upper B-, C- and D-pillar trim panels.

3. If equipped, remove the rear entertainment console.
4. If equipped, remove the gimp around the roof opening panel.

5. Remove the components in the order listed in the illustration and table.

Item 1: Sun Visor Center Retainer Removal Note







1. Open the access cover, remove the screw and remove the retainer.

Item 2: Sun Visor Retainer Cover Removal Note







1. Release the sun visor retainer cover tab.







2. Slide a small flat-blade screwdriver under the cover to release the second retainer tab.







3. Rotate the cover to remove.

Item 4: Sun Visor Removal Note

1. CAUTION: To prevent bending the headliner, loosely install the center sun visor retainer to support the headliner after disconnecting the electrical connectors.

Lower the headliner at the sun visor location to disconnect the electrical connectors.

Item 5: Headliner Electrical Connector (Front) Removal Note







1. Disconnect the electrical connector and the wiring pin-type retainers on the A-pillar.

Item 7: Interior Mirror Electrical Connector Removal Note







1. Remove the electronic compass sensor.







2. Disconnect the interior mirror electrical connector.

Item 10: Cargo Lamp Removal Note
1. Use a thin-bladed tool to carefully remove the lamp.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

Item 12: Dome Lamp Removal Note
1. Use a thin-bladed tool to carefully remove the lamp.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

Item 13: Headliner Electrical Connector (Rear) Removal Note







1. NOTE: Rear seat must be in the folded down position.

Position aside the LH rear quarter trim panel.







2. Remove the upper air duct.
- Remove the pin-type retainers.
- Push down on the duct, tilt top outward and pull upward to remove.







3. Remove the lower air duct.







4. Disconnect the electrical connector located at the C-pillar.
- Release the wiring harness pin-type retainers.







5. Disconnect all of the electrical connectors.

Item 14: Garment Hooks Removal Note

CAUTION: To prevent damage to the headliner, an assistant is required to support the liner while carrying out the remaining steps.







1. CAUTION: To prevent damage to the garment hanger retainer, use a 3/16-inch flat-blade screwdriver to carry out this step.

Remove the second and third row garment hooks.
- Open the access cover and insert a 3/16-inch flat-blade screwdriver into the garment hanger slot and turn 90 degrees so that it engages the plastic component slot. This spreads the steel attachment clip wings to allow the plastic component to disengage. The clip remains engaged in the sheet metal.

Item 15: Headliner Removal Note
1. Remove the center sun visor retainer.

2. NOTE: The rear seats must be in the folded down position. The front seats must be in the fully reclined position.

Tilt the RH side of the headliner upward and remove the headliner from the rear of the vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Item 4: Sun Visor Installation Note







1. Install new tape around the sun visor wiring harness-to-headliner before installing the visor.
