EXTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: SIDE STEP: REASSEMBLY

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
* A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart Standard Bolt - Specified Torque For Standard Bolts.

1. INSTALL STEP LIGHT BRACKET

HINT
Use the same procedure for both step light brackets.





(a) Install a nose piece to an air riveter or hand riveter.

(b) Insert the mandrel part of a new rivet into the nose piece.

(c) Using the riveter, install the step light bracket with the 3 rivets as shown in the illustration.

HINT
If the rivet cannot be cut, pull it once and cut it.

NOTICE:

Do not pry the rivet with the riveter as this will cause damage to the riveter and mandrel.

Confirm that the rivets are seated properly against the step light bracket.
* Do not tilt the riveter when installing the rivet to the step light bracket.
* Do not leave any space between the rivet head and step light bracket.

Do not leave any space between the step light bracket and step plate. Firmly hold together the 2 items while installing the rivet.

2. INSTALL STEP PANEL WIRE LH Installation

3. INSTALL STEP LIGHT ASSEMBLY Installation

4. INSTALL SIDE STEP BRACKET LH

(a) Install the side step bracket with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf)

5. INSTALL NO. 2 SIDE STEP BRACKET LH

(a) Install the No. 2 side step bracket with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf)

6. INSTALL NO. 3 SIDE STEP BRACKET LH

(a) Install the No. 3 side step bracket with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf)

7. INSTALL NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR

(a) Install the No. 6 rocker panel moulding protector with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 3.0 Nm (31 kgf-cm, 27 in-lbf)

8. INSTALL SIDE DOOR STEP PLATE REAR COVER LH

HINT
When installing the side door step plate rear cover, heat the step plate cover and side door step plate rear cover using a heat light.

Standard:





NOTICE:
Do not heat the step plate cover or side door step plate rear cover excessively.

(a) Clean the step plate cover surface.

(1) Using a heat light, heat the step plate cover surface.

(2) Remove the double-sided tape from the step plate cover surface.

(3) Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

(b) When using a new side door step plate rear cover:

(1) Using a heat light, heat the side door step plate rear cover surface.

(c) When reusing the side door step plate rear cover:





(1) Using a heat light, heat the side door step plate rear cover surface.

(2) Remove the double-sided tape from the side door step plate rear cover.

(3) Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

(4) Apply double-sided tape to the side door step plate rear cover as shown in the illustration.

Standard:





(d) Remove the peeling paper from the face of the side door step plate rear cover.

HINT
After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

(e) Attach the 17 claws to install the side door step plate rear cover.

HINT
Press the side door step plate rear cover firmly to install it.

(f) Install the 3 retainers.

9. INSTALL STEP PANEL LH

(a) Install the step panel with the 3 bolts.

Torque : 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 in-lbf)

10. INSTALL STEP PLATE LH

(a) Attach the 16 clips to install the step plate.
