Disassembly





EXTERIOR PANELS / TRIM: SIDE STEP: DISASSEMBLY

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. REMOVE STEP PLATE LH





(a) Detach the 16 clips and remove the step plate.

2. REMOVE STEP PANEL LH





(a) Remove the 3 bolts and step panel.

3. REMOVE SIDE DOOR STEP PLATE REAR COVER LH





(a) Remove the 3 retainers.

(b) Remove the double-sided tape, detach the 17 claws and remove the side door step plate rear cover.

4. REMOVE NO. 6 ROCKER PANEL MOULDING PROTECTOR





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 6 rocker panel moulding protector.

5. REMOVE SIDE STEP BRACKET LH





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and side step bracket.

6. REMOVE NO. 2 SIDE STEP BRACKET LH





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 side step bracket.

7. REMOVE NO. 3 SIDE STEP BRACKET LH





(a) Remove the 2 bolts and No. 3 side step bracket.

8. REMOVE STEP LIGHT ASSEMBLY Removal

9. REMOVE STEP PANEL WIRE LH Removal

10. REMOVE STEP LIGHT BRACKET

HINT
Use the same procedure for both step light brackets.





(a) Put a 5.0 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit into a drill.

(b) Wind tape around the drill bit approximately 5 mm (0.197 in.) from the tip of the drill as shown in the illustration.

HINT
Tape the 5.0 mm (0.157 in.) drill bit to prevent the drill bit from going too deep.

(c) Lightly press the drill against the 3 rivets, drill off the flanges of the 3 rivets and remove the step light bracket.

CAUTION:
Be careful of the drilled rivet as it may become hot.

NOTICE:
* Pressing the drill too firmly will cause the rivet to turn and result in the rivet not being drilled through.
* Do not pry the rivet with the drill because this may cause damage to the installation holes of the rivet or the drill bit.

(d) Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the rivet fragments and shavings from the drilled area.
