REAR SUSPENSION: REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER (for 2WD): REMOVAL
1. REMOVE REAR WHEELS
2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
3. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY Removal
4. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE LH
(a) Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the brake line from the rear flexible hose LH.
NOTICE:
* Do not bend or damage the brake line.
* Do not allow any foreign matter such as dirt and dust to enter the brake line.
(b) Remove the clip and separate the rear flexible hose LH.
(c) Remove the bolt and separate the rear flexible hose LH from the rear upper control arm assembly LH.
5. SEPARATE REAR FLEXIBLE HOSE RH
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
6. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER LH Removal
7. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER RH
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
8. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE LH Removal
9. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE RH
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
10. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal
11. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
12. REMOVE REAR STABILIZER BAR
(a) Remove the 4 nuts and rear stabilizer bar with 2 rear stabilizer bushings and 2 rear No. 1 stabilizer bar brackets.
13. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal
14. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
15. SEPARATE FRAME WIRE
(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the connectors, and then disengage the clamps to separate the frame wire from rear suspension member as shown in the illustration.
HINT
There are only the connector (A) and clamp (A) on vehicles with the HID headlight system.
16. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Separate the rear upper control arm assembly LH.
(1) Using a jack and wooden block, jack up the rear axle assembly LH to replicate standard vehicle height conditions.

(2) Remove the bolt and nut, and then separate the rear upper control arm assembly LH from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly LH.
NOTICE:
Since the stopper nut is used, loosen the bolt.
(3) Slowly lower the rear axle assembly LH.
(b) Separate the rear upper control arm assembly RH.
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
(c) Support the rear suspension member with a jack using 2 wooden blocks and 2 attachments or equivalent tools as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
Make sure to secure the rear suspension member to prevent it from dropping.
(d) Remove the 2 nuts, 4 bolts, 2 rear lower suspension braces and 2 rear lower suspension member stoppers.
(e) Remove the rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly LH.
(1) Using a jack and wooden block, jack up the rear axle assembly LH to replicate standard vehicle height conditions.

(2) Remove the nut (A) and the spacer.
(3) Remove the bolt (B), nut and rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly LH.
NOTICE:
Since the stopper nut is used, loosen the bolt (B).
(4) Slowly lower the rear axle assembly LH.
(f) Remove the rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly RH.
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
(g) Slowly lower the rear suspension member.
NOTICE:
When lowering the rear suspension member, be careful not to damage the vehicle body or other components installed on the vehicle.
17. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER UPPER STOPPER
(a) Remove the 2 rear suspension member upper stoppers.
18. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR UPPER STOPPER
(a) Remove the 2 rear suspension member rear upper stoppers.
19. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (w/ HID Headlight System)
(a) Remove the bolt (B) and separate the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH from the rear upper control arm assembly RH.
(b) Remove the bolt (A), 2 nuts and rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
20. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE LH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts, nut and rear speed sensor wire LH.
21. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE RH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts, nut and rear speed sensor wire RH.
22. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal
23. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH Removal
24. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for LH Side)
(a) Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion rib.

NOTICE:
Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.
(b) Install SST as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (center bolt) before use.
(c) Using SST, separate the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion (LH Side) from the rear suspension member sub-assembly, while applying grease to the clearance between the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion (LH Side) and the rear suspension member sub-assembly.

* Set the claws of SST onto the rear suspension member sub-assembly securely as shown in the illustration.
* Be careful as the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion may fly out.
* The rear suspension member front body mounting cushion cannot be reused.
(d) Remove SST and the rear suspension member front body mounting cushion (LH Side) from the rear suspension member sub-assembly.
25. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER FRONT BODY MOUNTING CUSHION (for RH Side)
HINT
Perform the same procedure as the LH side.
26. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER REAR BODY MOUNT CUSHION LH
(a) Using a chisel and hammer, bend the 2 portions of the rear suspension member rear body mounting cushion LH rib.

Make sure to bend the 2 portions of the cushion rib until the claws of SST can fit securely.
(b) Install SST as shown in the illustration.
