Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System
CRUISE CONTROL: DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM: U0235: Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor
DTC U0235 - Lost Communication with Cruise Control Front Distance Range Sensor
DESCRIPTION
The distance control ECU sends general vehicle control information, such as vehicle speed, steering angle, etc., to the millimeter wave radar sensor. The millimeter wave radar sensor sends information about whether another vehicle is present in front of the vehicle, the distance between the vehicles, relative speed, etc. to the distance control ECU. The distance control ECU sends this information to the ECM and performs control of cruise control.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTICE:
- When the distance control ECU is replaced with a new one, initialization must be performed Testing and Inspection.
- When the millimeter wave radar sensor is replaced with a new one, adjustment of the radar sensor beam axis must be performed Adjustments.
- As it is possible that this DTC was stored due to a bad connection of a connector, make sure to check that each connector is connected securely.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR - DISTANCE CONTROL ECU)
(a) Disconnect the A44 millimeter wave radar sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the E86 distance control ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK DISTANCE CONTROL ECU
(a) Disconnect the A44 millimeter wave radar sensor connector.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Voltage:
NG -- REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. REPLACE MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR
(a) Replace the millimeter wave radar sensor with a new one Removal.
(b) Adjust the millimeter wave radar sensor Adjustments.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK DTC (DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM)
(a) Using the Techstream, enter the following menus: Powertrain / Radar Cruise / Trouble Code.
(b) Clear the DTCs Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System.
(c) Perform the following to make sure the DTC detection conditions are met.
HINT:
If the detection conditions are not met, the system cannot detect the malfunction.
(1) Drive the vehicle at a speed of 40 km/h (25 mph) or more.
(2) Turn the cruise control main switch on.
(3) Push the -SET switch to activate the dynamic radar cruise control.
(d) Check for DTCs Dynamic Radar Cruise Control System.
OK:
DTC U0235 is not output.
NG -- REPLACE DISTANCE CONTROL ECU
OK -- END
