Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair

EXHAUST PIPE

REMOVAL
1. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2)





a. Disconnect the sensor connector.





b. Using SST, remove the sensor.

2. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2)





a. Disconnect the sensor connector.





b. Using SST, remove the sensor.

3. REMOVE TAILPIPE
a. Remove the clamp, 2 rings and gasket.
b. Disconnect the tailpipe from the center exhaust pipe.





4. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE
a. Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts, 3 rings and exhaust pipe.
b. Remove the 2 gaskets.
5. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE
a. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and gasket.
b. Remove the ring and front No. 2 exhaust pipe from the front exhaust pipe LH.





6. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE RH
a. Remove the 3 nuts, gasket and front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.





7. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE LH
a. Remove the 3 nuts, gasket and front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

INSTALLATION





1. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE RH
a. Install a new gasket to the front exhaust pipe.
b. Install the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold with 3 nuts.
Torque: 62 Nm (632 kgf-cm, 46 ft. lbs.)





2. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE LH
a. Install a new gasket to the front exhaust pipe.
b. Install the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 62 Nm (632 kgf-cm, 46 ft. lbs.)
3. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 EXHAUST PIPE
a. Install the front No. 2 exhaust pipe to the body bracket with the ring.
b. Install a new gasket to the front No. 2 exhaust pipe.
c. Connect the front No. 2 exhaust pipe to the front exhaust pipe LH with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.)





4. INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE
a. Install the center exhaust pipe to the body bracket with the 3 rings.
b. Install 2 new gaskets to the center exhaust pipe.
c. Connect the center exhaust pipe to the front exhaust pipe RH and front No. 2 exhaust pipe with the 4 bolts and 4 nuts.
Torque: 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.)





5. INSTALL TAILPIPE
a. Install the tailpipe with the 2 rings.
b. Install a new gasket.
c. Install the new clamp with the bolt as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE: Do not reuse the removed gasket and clamp.

Torque: 35 Nm (357 kgf-cm, 26 ft. lbs.)
6. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2)





a. Using SST, install the sensor.

Torque: 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.) for use without SST
40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.) for use with SST

HINT: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.81 inch).





b. Connect the sensor connector.





7. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2)
a. Using SST, install sensor.
SST 09224-00010
Torque: 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft. lbs.) for use without SST
40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft. lbs.) for use with SST

HINT: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.81 inch).

b. Connect the sensor connector.





8. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS
If gas is leaking, tighten the problem areas to stop the leak. Replace damaged parts as necessary.
