Removal and Replacement

HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER

REMOVAL

NOTICE:
^ Before starting the work, make sure that the ignition switch is OFF and depress the brake pedal more than 40 times.
^ As high pressure is applied to the No. 1 brake actuator tube, never deform it.
^ Until the work is completed, do not turn the ignition switch ON.

HINT: When a pressure in power supply system is released, reaction force becomes light and stroke becomes longer.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-)battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE: Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
4. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
5. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER PANEL
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH
7. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
8. REMOVE SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 nuts and skid control ECU.
9. REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER SUB-ASSEMBLY
10. REMOVE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY





a. Disconnect the 5 connectors.





b. Using SST, disconnect the 4 brake lines.
SST 09023-00101
c. Remove the clip and clevis pin.





d. Remove the 4 nuts.
e. Remove the booster and gasket.

INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY





a. Install a new gasket and the booster with the 4 nuts.
Torque: 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.)
b. Install the clevis pin with the clip.





c. Using SST, connect the 4 brake lines.
SST 09023-00101
Torque: 15 Nm (155 kgf-cm, 11 ft. lbs.) with SST

HINT: Use a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 30 cm (11.81 inch).





d. Connect the 5 connectors.
2. INSTALL CHARCOAL CANISTER SUB-ASSEMBLY
3. INSTALL SKID CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY
a. Install the skid control ECU with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.)
4. INSTALL NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH
6. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL LOWER PANEL
7. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD LH
8. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
10. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID
11. BLEED AIR FROM HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER
12. BLEED AIR FROM BRAKE LINE
13. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR





14. CHECK FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
a. Check for brake fluid leakage.
15. CHECK HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY
a. Check the hydraulic brake booster.
16. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

DISPOSAL





1. DISPOSAL METHOD OF ACCUMULATOR
a. Place the accumulator in a vise, cover it with a cloth.
b. Using a saw, then cut the accumulator body slowly.

CAUTION: Do not cut at a place except a stretch.

c. When the outer body of the accumulator is cut, gas discharges.
