Rear Knuckle Alignment Link: Service and Repair

Service Repair No - 64.35.70


Removal

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands.

1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheel and tire.
3. Release the toe link from the wheel knuckle.
^ Remove the nut.





4. Release the height sensor link.
^ Remove the nut.





5. Mark the position of the bolt.





6. Remove the toe link.
^ Remove and discard the bolt.
^ Collect the washer.

Installation

CAUTION: Only tighten the nuts and bolts when the suspension is in the normal drive position.

1. Install the toe link.
^ Install a new bolt.
^ Align the bolt to the marks made previously.
^ Install the washer.
^ Tighten the nut and bolt to 165 Nm (121 ft. lbs.).

2. Secure the toe link to the wheel knuckle.
^ Tighten the nut to 165 Nm (121 ft. lbs.).

3. Secure the height sensor link.
^ Tighten the nut to19 Nm (14 ft. lbs.).

4. Install the wheel and tire.
^ Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (103 ft. lbs.).

5. Check, and if necessary, adjust the wheel alignment.
