Power Steering Pump: Service and Repair

Power Steering Pump - 3.2L

Service Repair No - 57.20.14

Removal

1. Remove the cover and disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the battery tray.
4. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
5. Siphon the fluid from the power steering reservoir.
6. Remove the A/C compressor, lower support bracket.





7. Release the accessory drive belt tension.





8. CAUTION: Be prepared to collect escaping fluids.

NOTE: Make sure that all openings are sealed.

Disconnect the power steering fluid lines.





9. Release the power steering pump support bracket.





10. Remove the power steering pump.





Installation

1. Install the power steering pump.

Torque:
25 Nm

2. CAUTION: Extreme cleanliness must be exercised when handling these components.

CAUTION: A new O-ring seal is to be installed.

Connect the power steering fluid lines.
Torque:
27 Nm

3. Install the accessory drive belt.
4. Install the A/C compressor, lower support bracket.

Torque:
25 Nm

5. Install the air cleaner assembly.
6. Install the battery tray.
7. Install the engine cover.
8. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
9. Connect the battery ground cable and install the cover.
