Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module - Vehicles With: Standard Brakes

Service Repair No - 70.25.12


Removal

CAUTION: Make sure the ignition switch is in position 0

NOTE: The hydraulic control unit (HCU) mounted to the ABS module cannot be serviced seperately. If the HCU requires replacement, then the ABS module must be replaced as a complete assembly.

WARNING: Do not work on or under a vehicle supported only by a jack. Always support the vehicle on safety stands

1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
3. Discvonnect the electrical connector.
^ Release the latch
^ Reposition the electrical connector





CAUTION: Before disconnecting or removing components, make sure the area around the joint faces and connections are clean. Plug open connections to prevent contamination.

NOTE: Note the fitted positions

4. Release the 6 brake fluid lines.
^ Position an absorbant cloth to collect fluid spillage





5. Remove the ABS module.
^ Loosen but do not remove the 2 nuts
^ Release from the locating grommet





Installation

NOTE: Make sure ABS module locating grommet is correctly seated in the bracket before installing the ABS module.

NOTE: Make sure the ABS module locating pin is correctly located in the grommet and the 2 isolators are fully seated in the brackets

1. Install the ABS module.
^ Tighten the nuts to 8 Nm (6 ft. lbs.)
^ Tighten the M10 and M12 unions to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.)
^ Tighten the M14 union to 17 Nm (13 ft. lbs.)
2. Connect the electrical connector.
^ Secure the latch
3. Connect the battery negative cable.
4. Bleed the brake system.
