Sunroof / Moonroof Lift Mechanism: Service and Repair

76.84.16 Block - Pivot - Sunroof - 5 Door

Remove

1. Remove sunroof drive cables and slide assemblies.







2. Position sunroof slide assembly in maximum tilt position.







3. Remove Torx screw securing link arm to slide assembly and release arm.







4. Slide marked nylon (1) rack towards front of slide assembly until unmarked nylon rack reaches stop.
5. Depress unmarked nylon rack (2), slide marked nylon rack towards front of slide assembly and remove.
6. Remove unmarked nylon rack (3).







7. Remove the nylon gear.
8. Slide upper slide assembly backwards and release from lower slide assembly.
9. Remove sunroof cable.
10. Release forward lever from pivot block.







11. Release pivot block locating peg from upper slide assembly, slide pivot block towards front of upper slide assembly and remove.

Refit

1. Slide pivot block into upper slide assembly and locate peg into position.
2. Fit forward lever to pivot block.
3. Fit sunroof cable to pivot block and lower slide assembly.







4. Slide upper slide assembly into lower slide assembly until in maximum tilt position.
5. Check nylon gear for wear, lubricate and fit to upper slide assembly.
6. Fit unmarked nylon rack beyond gear.







7. Fit marked nylon rack and align timing mark with centre of gear spindle.







8. Move marked nylon rack towards front of slide assembly by 2 teeth.







9. Move unmarked nylon rack towards front of slide assembly, until the timing mark is aligned with centre of the gear spindle.
10. Connect link arm to slide assembly, fit and tighten Torx screw.
11. Fit sunroof drive cables and slide assemblies.
