2003 Range Rover Instrument Panel Illumination Lights Extinguish

Range Rover (LM) Up to 3A110031

Situation

A customer may complain that the instrument panel lights extinguish or dim and that one or more of the door lights is not working. These symptoms may result from the wiring for the door lights becoming pinched by the trim finisher fasteners. This can cause the illumination circuit to over load and shut down.

The cause is most frequently isolated to the RH front door wiring, but the same situation can occur in any of the doors, including rear doors.

Action

1. Remove the door casing from the side door on which the lights are not working.

2. Inspect the wiring around the trim finisher fasteners for damaged insulation.

3. Loosen the fasteners and release any trapped wiring.

4. Tighten the fasteners ensuring that the wiring is clear.

5. Repair and insulate wiring as required,

6. Install the door casing.

7. Verify that all lights and instrument panel lighting work properly
