REPAIR PROCEDURE
PERFORM HEADLIGHT ADJUSTMENT
NOTE:
Vehicle and aiming tool positioning are important to the success of the mechanical alignment of the headlamps.
^ The vehicle must be parked on a level surface.
^ Instructions must be carried out as detailed.
^ All T4 on-screen instructions must be followed.
CAUTION:
The vehicle ride height will change during this procedure. The vehicle must not be obstructed or prevented from making height adjustments.
1. * Connect T4 to the vehicle using disc "Range Rover 12" or a later version. (For additional guidance refer to InfoTrail > Bulletins > Other Publication > Tools > T4 Diagnostic Equipment > User's Guide > New Range Rover Xenon Headlight Calibration).*
2. Follow the on screen instructions and select 'System Diagnostics'.
3. Follow the on screen instructions and select 'Exterior Lights'.
4. Follow the on screen instructions and select 'Vehicle Maintenance'
5. Follow the on screen instructions and select 'Headlight Calibration'.
NOTE:
The Headlight Calibration procedure will read any stored fault codes. The "Height Sensor Fault" is NOT an indicator to replace the sensor. If any other faults exist, they must be investigated and cleared before the continuing the calibration procedure.
6. If a 'height sensor fault' is stored, clear the fault and continue.
NOTE:
In order to ensure that the vehicle is at the correct ride height for calibration, it is necessary for T4 to move the vehicle into Access height mode and then to Standard height mode. IF the technician presses "Continue" prematurely In either of the following two steps, T4 will not read accurate suspension height information needed to perform the headlamp adjustment correctly.
7. When the vehicle has achieved Access ride height (i.e. the Access mode LED in the Ride Height Indicator Panel is illuminated and not flashing), press 'Continue'.
8. When the vehicle has achieved Standard ride height (i.e. the Standard mode LED in the Ride Height Indicator Panel is illuminated and not flashing), press 'Continue'.
CAUTION:
In order for the headlamp leveling Electronic Control Unit (ECU) to be prepared for calibration, it is necessary to power the system down and restart it.
^ The on screen instructions must be followed carefully.
^ Observation of the required 5-second or greater delay when prompted is critical.
^ T4 MUST remain connected, with the calibration screen displayed, throughout the adjustment procedure.
NOTE:
The Land Rover headlamp setting specification is 1.4% below horizontal with the lamps parallel. Local regulations must be observed when performing this adjustment.
9. Refer to RAVE/GTR section 86.40.17 and determine the current alignment of the headlamps.
NOTE:
When adjusting the horizontal position ensure the vertical position remains within specification.
10. Adjust the headlamps manually as required using the Lujan Sniper model 5405 alignment tool.
11. When the manual adjustment has been completed, press 'Continue' on T4 screen to proceed.
12. Return to the diagnostic system screen and disconnect T4 from the vehicle.
