REPAIR PROCEDURE

INSPECT MIRROR MICROSWITCH FOR PROPER OPERATION

1. Connect T4 to the vehicle.

2. Select "DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM".

3. Select vehicle model, input the VIN and follow the on screen instructions.

4. Select "SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS".

5. Select "Seats & Mirrors".

6. Select "Real-time Display".

7. Select "Mirrors".

NOTE:
The door mirror micro-switch will cycle through an OFF/ON/OFF state in the next step. This indicates the switch is working.

8. Operate the power-fold function switch and observe the response of the corresponding T4 display.

CAUTION:
It is advisable to check on the availability of replacement covers/bezels before proceeding to the next step and attempting to remove the mirror back cover. The cover can be removed (without damage) to gain access to the micro-switch.

9. If the micro-switch state does not change, release the clips on the inside of the cover using a flat tool.

10. Unclip the mirror back-cover. (Figure 1)

CAUTION:
Care must be taken not to damage the plastic fins inside the mirror cover, which form part of the clip fit. If damage occurs, it may become necessary to replace the cover/bezel.

11. Inspect the micro-switch electrical connection.

12. If the micro-switch has become dislodged from its correct position, return the micro-switch to the correct location to establish connection. (Figure 2)

13. Operate the power-fold function switch and observe the response of the corresponding T4 display.

NOTE:
GTR lookup sequence is as follows:
GTR Home > NAS > Service Information/ LN Freelander/2004 > Workshop Manuals > Service Procedures > Bookmark "Doors 76-1-1" > TOC "Repairs/Latch - rear door" link Range Rover EXTERIOR FITTINGS, Motor - exterior mirror (76.11.09).

14. If there is still no state change in the corresponding T4 display for the micro-switch, the micro switch is faulty. Refer to GTR Section 76.11.09 and perform the following:

^ Install a new mirror assembly and submit a separate warranty claim for that operation.

^ Operate the power-fold function switch and observe the response of the corresponding T4 display.

15. Verify that the switch state is now functioning correctly.

16. Install the mirror back-cover on mirrors that have been checked and corrected.

17. Return to the T4 "Seats and Mirrors" main menu.

18. Select "Force Outputs" and check each mirror operation against its output to ensure correct operation.

19. If all functions are operating correctly, disconnect T4 from the vehicle.
