Steering Knuckle Specification Change

AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

Discovery Series II (LT) From 2A754808 and
Repaired vehicle with new style steering knuckles

SITUATION:

SPECIFICATION CHANGE AND SPARE PARTS IDENTIFICATION

A component specification change that modifies the camber angle of front axle steering knuckles has been introduced in production. The new components are NOT interchangeable with older specification knuckles.

RESOLUTION:

VERIFY CORRECT COMPONENTS ARE UTILIZED IN PAIRS

NOTE:
The new specification steering knuckles can be fitted on vehicles up to VIN 2A754807 also. However the new style knuckle must ALWAYS be fitted in pairs to ensure the camber angle is the same on each side.

CAUTION:
Never mix old and new parts numbers on the same vehicle.

Due to an engineering specification change it has been necessary to modify the suspension camber angle. Whenever a steering knuckle is replaced for any reason, it is vital that the correct replacement components are used for the repair. The repair procedure itself is unchanged.

CAMBER ANGLE - SPECIFICATION CHANGE

NOTE:
A casting number is shown on each knuckle to identify the component. Inspection should always be undertaken to ensure only matched pairs are installed.

The design of the steering knuckle casting has been altered to give a 30' (minute) change in the camber angle.

This change does not affect the repair or service procedure.
