Tie Rod: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Raise the vehicle.

WARNING: Support on safety stands.

2. Remove front wheels.





3. Remove 2 nuts (3) securing track rod ball joints to steering knuckles.
- Release taper joints.
- Remove track rod.

DISASSEMBLY
1. Loosen nuts and bolts (4) clamping ball joints and adjuster.
2. Remove ball joints, adjuster and clamps.

ASSEMBLY
1. Position ball joints, adjuster and clamps (4) on track rod.
2. Screw adjuster and ball joints in to full extent of threads.
3. Using adjuster, set track rod to nominal length of 1340mm ± 1Omm.
4. Secure clamps with nuts and bolts (4).

INSTALLATION
1. Position track rod on steering knuckles.
- Secure with nuts (3), then tighten to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.).
2. Install front wheels, then tighten to 108 Nm (80 ft. lbs.).
3. Remove safety stands and lower vehicle.
4. Set front wheel alignment. Service and Repair
