Repair Procedure
DEFENDER 90 A/C CARE POINTSNOTE:
Follow and understand the instructions in the a/c kit installation manual especially the introduction and precautions thoroughly.
A/C Pipes and lines
1. Adjust the oil cooler pipes to create at least a 19 mm (0.75 in) clearance from the A/C suction pipe (Figure 1).
2. Ensure that the pipes to and from the evaporator are routed upwards.
3. Secure evaporator pipes and wire harness and tie-wrap together near the heater box area as outlined in the installation instructions.
4. Position the lower condenser pipe so it does not make contact with any metal part as it passes between the radiator and body panel (Figure 2).
5. Position screw drive on lower radiator hose clamp away from air-conditioning pipes and other vehicle body parts when install the condenser.
Seals
1. Ensure that the firewall grommet (dash grommet) is fully installed and water-tight (Figure 3).
2. Spray the engine compartment side of the dash grommet with 3M under-body coating spray.
3. In the passenger footwell secure the drain tube to the evaporator line with a wire tie.
4. Ensure that all A/C system O-rings are lubricated with R-134a-compatible air conditioner oil (PAG) prior to assembly for correct seating.
Electrical
1. Ensure that fuse no. 16 in the main fusebox is changed to 20 Amp as per TIB 80/02/97/NAS.
2. Secure wiring harnesses away from exhaust components and moving parts (Figure 4).
