Recall - Electronic Air Suspension
Bulletin: G95-009Section: General
Date: 3/17/95
Model: Range Rover Classic
Applicable to: USA
Subject:
Electronic Air Suspension - Service Action H845
In the interest of customer satisfaction, we have decided to notify Range Rover Classic owners in areas of the United States most likely to experience extremely cold ambient temperatures, of a potential problem with the EAS system. The owners will be sent a letter requesting them to make an appointment with their dealer to have certain components of the EAS system updated.
This Service Action will be run in conjunction with the Cold Start Service Action H855. This will prevent owners of vehicles included in the Cold Start Service Action from being contacted twice, and hence a possible two separate visits to your dealership. There are two letters, one for vehicles only affected by H845, and the second for those vehicles affected by both H845 and H855.
All ('93, '94, and 95 MY) Range Rover Classics equipped with EAS before VIN 654350, located in selected States, will be affected.
EAS vehicles up to 649520 will receive an updated compressor and diaphragm seal kit.
EAS vehicles between 649520 and 654350 will receive the updated diaphragm seal kit only.
Exact repair procedures and in-depth technical advice is provided in Technical Information Bulletin H845 included with this bulletin.
Because of the regional and seasonal nature of this problem, only customers in the following states will be notified of the need for the upgrade:
If a vehicle is not registered in one of the defined regions, no action should be undertaken to repair the vehicle under this program. However, if a vehicle which is not registered in one of the above regions experiences a definable EAS problem, repairs to the system should be carried out according to the latest EAS technical information bulletins. In particular please refer to TIB's 60/01/95/US and 60/02/95/US which detail the diagnosis of the "EAS Compressor Brush Hang Up" and the "EAS Valve Block Icing" consecutively.
REPLACEMENT PARTS
LRNA will release notifications to customers in waves to coincide with parts availability. A copy of the customer letter is attached for reference. We will let you know when the letters will be sent to customers who purchased vehicles from you. Since LRNA will waive all VOR and shipping charges for parts needed to perform repairs under this program, there is no need to stock these parts. Please only order enough parts to repair vehicles for which customers have actually scheduled an appointment.
