Subject:
EAS VEHICLE SPEED FAULT - WARNING LIGHTS ON
If vehicles with Electronic Air Suspension (EAS) from VIN ... PA624756 to ...RA640894 should develop a condition whereby the upper and lower warning lights flash intermittently and then stay lit, a hard fault has been recorded in the EAS Electronic Control Unit (ECU). The ECU should be interrogated using the Hand Held Tester. If a "Vehicle Speed Fault" has been recorded, the following procedure should be used to check the integrity of the road speed transducer.
WORK PROCEDURE
1. Connect the Hand Held Tester to the diagnostic plug. If a vehicle road speed fault is present, clear the fault and monitor vehicle speed in Dynamic Test (F2).
2. Drive the vehicle and check the road speed on the tester against the speedometer reading. If the indicated speed on the tester follows the speedometer reading up to 70 mph (112 kph) and then fluctuates as road speed increases the road speed transducer needs to be replaced. The procedure for replacing the road speed transducer can be found in Section 19 of the Range Rover Workshop Manual.
NOTE:
All road tests conducted on public highways should observe local traffic regulations. High speed testing may necessitate the use of private test facilities or a dynometer.
