AXLE SWIVEL AND HUB SEALS - NEW PARTS INFORMATION

To improve axle swivel and hub sealing a new range of seals have been introduced on Land Rover products, Range Rover from VIN ... RA632889 and Defender from VIN ...RA925688. These seals are directly interchangeable with the previous parts.





PARTS INFORMATION

WORK PROCEDURE

It must be noted the new seals have changed orientation and the following guidelines should be adhered to when being installed:

1. Front stub axle seal FT03145 must be installed with the spring facing outward (toward outside of vehicle). Refer to Item C in Illustration No. 2.

NOTE:
The rear stub axle seal lip faces in exactly the opposite direction to that of the front stub axle seal.

2. Hub oil seal FTC2783 for both front and rear hubs must be installed with the lip facing inward (toward the center of the vehicle). Refer to items B and E in their respective illustrations.

3. Rear hub oil seal FT03145 must be installed with the spring to the inside (toward the center of the vehicle). Refer to Item A in Illustration No. 1.

The current special tools for these seals remains unchanged. Refer to the Workshop Manual, Sections 51 and 54, for clearance, pre-load and torque specifications.
