SHOCK ABSORBER OIL RESIDUE - UPDATE SERVICE BULLETIN P92-026

Service Bulletin P92-026 addressed the problem of small amounts of oil being left on shock absorbers during the manufacturing process. The oil can collect road dust and give the appearance of a substantial leak.

The results of recent testing indicate as many as 50% of the shocks returned were replaced for the condition described above. The shocks were cleaned then tested thoroughly with no evidence of leakage from the shock absorber body.

The shock absorber manufacturer has eliminated the use of this oil during the manufactoring process. Please ensure all shocks are cleaned of road dust and tested (refer to Service Bulletin P92-026) before being replaced. Shock absorbers returned for testing which are found to be free from fault will be debited.
