SPECIAL TOOL REORGANIZATION KIT

You will shortly receive a kit which will allow you to renumber and reorganize your Land Rover Special Tools in a neat, logical and professional manner.

Each kit consists of the elements:

Each kit contains enough overlays and tool specific decals (patch sets) for all Land Rover Special Tools supplied to North American Dealers from 1987 to date. The four (4) existing tool boards and one (1) additional toolboard supplied with the kit contain enough space to mount and display these tools. The hook and clip sets should be adequate for the Defender 90/110 tools. Additional hook/clip sets are available using part number MS.45-407H if needed.

An example of one of the patch sets is shown.

GENERAL REORGANIZATION PROCEDURE

^ Inventory your existing tools using Service Bulletin TE93-0O4 as a guide. Missing tools may be ordered through the Parts system.

^ Remove all tools and hanging hardware from your existing boards. To reduce confusion, keep the hardware with each tool and loosely group the tools by area of primary use, i.e. engine (12), fuel system (19), steering (57), etc. Service Bulletin TE93-004 may be used as a reference for grouping.

^ Using a ball peen hammer and hard surface, flatten any raised areas on the toolboards caused by the original screws. (Not flattening these areas will prevent smooth application of the new main overlays.)

^ Using ordinary white spray enamel, paint out the top 6" (150 mm) of each existing toolboard's original overlay. This will prevent shadowing of the original overlay through the white top band of the new one.

^ Once the paint has dried1 place the toolboard on a flat surface and spray liberally with a weak soap/water solution.

^ Peel back the release paper a small amount at a time and position each new main overlay on it's wetted toolboard. Using a rag and squeegee work out bubbles and wrinkles.

^ Once the overlays have dried, begin re-mounting the tools.

TOOL MOUNTING

^ Before proceeding, review each patch set and note that some patches won't be needed as they apply to tools not supplied to our market

^ Beginning with the engine tools (group 12) and ending with miscellaneous tools (group 99), mock up the placement before installing clips or applying the tool patches. Use the groupings in this bulletin as a guide.

NOTE:
Certain tools, due to their size or use, are not designed to be displayed on a toolboard. Examples: Hand Press - Tool No. LRT-99-002, Holding Fixture - Tool No. LRTA4-505

Each patch sheet contains a label indicating the primary area of tool use, i.e. steering, suspension, brakes, etc. These may be used to define the groups on the boards.

The divider tape (P.N. MS.45-452-DS) is used to separate tool group areas on any given toolboard.
