POWER STEERING BOX BLEEDING
Whenever repairs or parts replacements are carried out on the power steering system, a bleed at the fitting on the power steering box should be made (see illustration).
Don't assume that the system will self-bleed. Trapped air can cause noise and "feel" problems in the steering and lead to dissatisfied customers.
WORK PROCEDURE
Follow the bleed procedure outlined in Section 57 of both the Range Rover and Defender Workshop Manuals. This procedure includes a short road test as a final check.
PARTS INFORMATION
When topping up a power steering system, make sure the correct grade of ATF is used:
Range Rover: ATF Dexron IID
Defender 110: ATF Type F or FLM
