Remove and Refit
REMOVE1. Place the vehicle on a suitable hydraulic hoist, alternatively raise the front of the vehicle using a hydraulic floor jack and install axle stands under the front axle, remove the floor jack.
Ball Joint Tool:
2. Disconnect the drag link from the pitman arm ball joint, using a suitable extractor.
Pitman Arm:
3. Remove the pitman arm from the steering box rocker shaft, using extractor MS252A.
NOTE: The pitman arm ball joint is integral with the pitman arm.
REFIT
1. Set the steering box in the midway lock-to-lock position.
2. Fit the pitman arm in position, aligning the master splines.
3. Fit the pitman arm fasteners and tighten to 176 Nm (130 ft lb).
4. Fit the drag link and tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft lb).
