CFC-free refrigerant, R-134a, may now be used as a replacement refrigerant in older air-conditioning Systems previously charged with R-12 refrigerant. Installation of a new receiver-drier and the exchange of a number of seals within the system permits recharging the older system with R-134a and compatible ESTER refrigerant oil. Whenever an upgrade is performed, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of all system components to ensure that they are in good working order and in proper condition for the continued effective operation of the air-conditioning system.
CAUTION:
Refer to the precautions and warnings in the workshop manual for information and precautions before starting procedure. Refrigerants must be handled cautiously and with due regard to their chemical properties. Observe all precautions.
