Applicable to: USA, Canada
SUBJECT:
Refrigerant Recovery
Currently, six states - New York, Wisconsin, Hawaii, Illinois, Oregon and Vermont - have laws requiring recovery of Refrigerant 12 from automotive A/C systems.
Legislation has been passed to make refrigerant recovery a Federal law, effective January 1, 1992 for automotive service businesses doing 100 or more A/C repairs per year. All others will be required to recover refrigerant beginning on January 1, 1993.
Range Rover of North America, Inc., Land Rover Canada Inc. and the Land Rover Factory all strongly recommend the use of recovery and recycling equipment to reduce the discharge of CFC's into the atmosphere.
The Land Rover approved supplier of refrigerant recovery and recycling equipment is:
Bear Automotive Service Equipment Co.
New Berlin, WI 53151
(414) 786-5212 or...
Other equipment meeting SAE-J1990 and SAE-J1991 standards and UL approval is also acceptable for use. Units not meeting these specifications may not recycle R-12 to the required purity.
Please make sure that your selected supplier provides on-site training for use of the equipment.
